Early Years
My Journey began years ago in middle school at Oz park with my mom.  She wanted to get moving again and dragged me along.  We would walk/run around Oz park together in Lincoln Park for a few laps.  Soon I began to beat her and fell in love with running because of how it made me feel (strong, confident, capable). I continued running CC and Track & Field at St. Ignatius CP and knew I wouldn’t be able to let go of it in college.

Education
I went on to run CC and T&F at DePauw University in Greencastle IN and had the time of my life.  I quickly began to focus on the 400m and 800m in track. These events require power, I knew only running would not cut it. I began lifting regularly with workouts our trainers provided for us. Side effect – faster running. This made me fall in love with the human body and what it’s capable of. I decided to Major in Kinesiology.

My college advisor was a knowledgeable runner himself and helped me grow my knowledge.  He got me thinking more and more about strength training when he helped me pick my senior seminar project – “The effects of maximal strength training on running economy”.

Plans of going to Physical Therapy school changed soon after graduation. While working at Athletico and taking Chemistry and the GRE I decided I needed a break from school. With hopes of still being able to help people, I decided to study for the NASM CPT exam.

Experience
I’ve been a trainer for 5+ years and could’t love it more!  I began at Equinox Lincoln Park, Chicago for a year and a half, while also coaching at Lincoln Park High School as the head girls Cross Country and Track coach. Then headed to FFC Gold Coast for just over a year and worked my way up to top 15 in the company for my last five months. I’ve now become my own “gym” SoFit & Company LLC located in Chicago and obtaining three certifications: Functional Range Conditioning Mobility specialist (FRCms), Kinstretch instructor and Pre/post-Natal Specialist.

I work with all types of people from 13 year old athletes, brides to be, people looking to move better, to 80 year olds trying to crush the thing called life. I truly have no preference as long as you’re ready.

MY WHY FOR STRENGTH TRAINING

I’ve been called small, chicken legs, etc my whole life – even told gaining weight will help me build my business before by a co-worker at my first job, which is BS.  This really fueled my fire to lift smart and heavy.  Lifting weights makes me feel strong, powerful, confident AND helps me run faster and more efficiently and is fun of course! Why mobility? Because we have to keep moving better everyday – tomorrow and in 30 years.
